Alleluia Lutheran Church
Memorandum of Understanding

The CELC congregation approved the adoption merger Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on January 30, 2022, at a special meeting held following the annual meeting.  The Alleluia congregation approved the MOU on February 6 at their annual meeting. The approved MOU document is available below.  The councils from both congregations are proceeding with the transition planning and more information will be shared as it becomes available.

If you have any questions, please contact the CELC Council President, Su Erickson, or Pastor Jeff.

  • God has been guiding us on a journey for these two congregations to come together in ministry

  • Our combined resources, including spiritual, physical, and financial will provide a much greater opportunity to serve and bless others rather than working independently

Why now

  • Alleluia does not have sufficient membership and financial support to allow them to call a full time Pastor and continue as an independent congregation

  • The CELC church council has been meeting for almost 2 years with the Synod and the Alleluia church council looking at options

  • Both church councils and congregations have approved a Memorandum of Understanding that will guide an "adoption merger" where CELC will "adopt" and incorporate the ministry and facilities of Alleluia into CELC

  • Continue to pray for guidance as we continue through this process

Steps in process

  1. CELC congregation approved the proposed Memorandum of Understanding on 1/30

  2. Alleluia congregation approved the proposed Memorandum of Understanding on  2/6

  3. Transition council as specified in the MOU is being formed

  4. The 3 teams specified in the MOU are being formed

  5. Additional steps required from the congregations will be determined by the transition council.
