Transition Prayer Vigil
A word of appreciation to the Church Council and Sandy Gabel specifically for the wonderful idea of starting a Prayer Vigil for the express purpose of preparing for the new pastor that will be coming to Christ!
Next Session, December date tbd
Building B, Classroom A
What is a prayer vigil? Sandy told us that vigil comes from Latin and means expectation, watchful, alertness. A prayer vigil is an intentional time of prayer focused on one concern to lift up to God. In our case, we are lifting up our heart’s concern about who will be the next pastor at Christ.
Here is a prayer you may pray during your own personal prayer time.
Gracious and loving God, we come to you at your invitation to give to you what is on our hearts. We are a community of faith that is in need of a pastoral leadership that will nurture, strengthen, lead, and grow our commitment to following Jesus, your son. You have blessed this church with pastoral leadership that has brought us to this moment. We pray earnestly for what you have in store for us. Continue to bless us and guide us in our search. Amen.
Also, you might want to read from the Prophet Jeremiah, 3:15, “Then I will give you shepherds after my own heart who will lead you with knowledge and understanding.”

Pastor Kim
Future dates will be announced when scheduled. If you have any questions, please feel free to speak with Sandy Gabel.
Please reflect and join in these prayers from the First and Second Gathering of 14 and 5 members who met in October and November to pray specifically for our pastor to be and for our call committee.
The first meeting in October focused on PATIENCE
Dear Eternal God
We feel anxious waiting, but we know waiting is good. We are both excited and yet have some fears of change. We want to let go and trust the process of uniting us with our new minister even when we do not know the name of who you are preparing. Lead us forward toward one another. Calm our anxieties and let us focus on the new possibilities for our ministry together with open hearts. We pray for open minds and we pray for our call committee as they guide us forward.
The second meeting in November focused on GRATITUDE
Dear Creator God
We beseech you to be in the heart of several persons out there to consider the pastoral ministry open here. Put us together Lord. Reframe our anxieties and desires into gratitude for the journey ahead as we celebrate the past and are filled with gratitude for Kim’s interim ministry here. Turn our gratitude into boundless hope, trusting you are touching the heart of candidates and granting them wisdom and discernment to consider joining us in the good works of this congregation as witnesses of your love through Christ to this community and the larger world. We pray in faith and trust.
