I wrote this Bible Study eight years ago and enjoyed all the research and conversations this topic encouraged. So, I thought it might be a nice way to move through summer here at Christ Lutheran, at least for 8 weeks of it!

 

Who are the Three Marys?

You know them all: Mary the mother of Jesus. We will refer to her as Mary of Nazareth. Mary the sister of Martha and Lazarus. We will refer to her as Mary of Bethany. Mary Magdalene – witness to the resurrection.

From the well-known story from Luke 10 – Jesus is resting at the house of his friends, Martha, Mary and Lazarus and Martha makes a fuss about Mary not helping.

We will look at these women, all that we can know from scripture as well as from extra sources and see what we make of their lives, their ministries and their contribution to our faith journeys.
